An Historic Jewel

So wrote Balboa to his King, Ferdinand, in 1513. He spoke of the Pearl Islands off Panama’s Pacific Coast.

Now, as then, the 'Las Perlas' Archipelago provides natural riches to all who visit… sugar-sand beaches, crystal turquoise waters, secret coves, colorful fish, graceful rays and sea turtles. Open ocean abounding in whales and dolphins, primary tropical forests, world renowned game fishing, sailing and watersports.

Pearls have been a symbol of purity since before the time of Christ - in the past some of the worlds finest pearls have come from the waters around Saboga. That unspoiled purity lives on to this day on Saboga's palm fringed beaches and rocks... There is nothing like the adventure of an island retreat.the atmosphere of walking where kings, pirates and presidents have walked. The Pearl Archipelago has played host to many famous and infamous characters - the islands were a favourite hideout of notorious pirates Francis Drake, "The Dragon", and Henry Morgan, "Terror of the Caribbean". US President Jimmy Carter and former Spanish President Gonzalez spent time here, as did John Wayne, who bought one of the islands. Mickey Rooney, Julio Iglesias and Joe DiMaggio also numbered among the Islands illustrious fans. More recently, Saboga was watched by millions in the last series of the reality TV show, "Survivor".

Your Island Paradise

Isla Saboga is one of the most pristine of the Pearl Islands, containing a charming traditional fishing village with just under 400 friendly and hospitable people. The wildlife of the Pearl Islands is prolific with wild pigs, large numbers of deer, iguanas, agoutis, parrots and giant pigeons to be seen. The area is an important biosphere zone and migrational route for many species of animals including humpback whales which can seen readily from Isla Saboga's shores. A successful turtle release program is underway on one of the nearby islands. The island is covered in particularly lush vegetation and primary tropical dry forest. Grupo del Sol's development policy is strictly against clear cutting of any forest in all of its projects.

The long-standing tradition of using no cars on the island will be upheld by the developer, only golf cart trails will be built. Isla Saboga has 10 main beaches and numerous other small sandy coves. The Developer intends to use less than a third of the island’s 1,200 acres - much of its area given over to permanent green space.

A Wealth of Activities

Climbing, Diving, Golf, Mountain Biking, Watersports, Whitewater Rafting, Sport Fishing, Angling and hiking in the National Parks and reserves… The word "Panama" is said to derive from "abundance of fish", and it is true that some of the best sport fishing in the world can be had in the waters around the island. One of the Pearl Islands holds 16 black marlin world records alone.

You can live the highlife in Panama City, where you will find world class shopping, amenities and entertainment. Visit the famous Canal, Old Panama, Bridge of the Americas, and more. From the clubs and malls of the city, you can be home to recharge on Isla Saboga in under an hour.

A Community To Live In
